Welcome to my web page, dedicated exclusively to Social Work, Social Workers, and Social Work practice.
Social Work and the social work profession are experiencing an unprecedented period of turmoil; characterised by personal and professional introspection public scrutiny and role identity.
The profession is at a crossroads and is having to grapple with amongst other things, establishing a College of Social Work, along with changes envisaged in social work education and regulation… All this and still having to keep the show on the road!
The above challenges present us with an opportunity to take control and ownership of mapping out the future direction of our profession and destiny.
This web page is intended to contribute towards facilitating the above process by helping bring together in one place, a reservoir of social work wisdom, practice knowledge, expertise, experience, and Research and Practice development. I want to realise this through establishing a Research and Practice Learning Network(s).
What is in it for me?
Increased self-confidence, improved personal practice, enhanced practice competence and capability, contribute to developing ‘Evidence Based Practice alongside Practice Based Evidence’ and learning alongside other Social Workers.
The Network(s) are intended to be on a membership basis and will be open to: practising Social Workers, Social Work managers and Social Work students.
The learning will be facilitated and supported by an annual programme involving: Periodic network learning events, Seminars, Workshops, Conferences, Round Table discussions on topics and subjects relevant to social work. This will also include opportunities for ‘dedicated’ Social Work and social care Networking events.
The above learning menu is aimed at enhancing your personal and professional development, through learning from research and practice, practice and developing Practice Based Evidence.
Members will receive preferential rates to the above programme and Networking events and also a quarterly Network Update.
It is also envisaged to run theme or client specific Action Learning Networks.
